Art is Resistors electronic component jewellery is hand made from resistors, capacitors, diodes, and other electronic and musical components, or found objects.
I hope my designs appeal to musicians, engineers, electronics enthusiasts, technology and science geeks, cyberpunks, goths and any other subculture with an interest in technology or the subversion of found objects into art.
Some links are individually hand soldered, using lead free solder. Some jump rings, clasps and other standard jewellery components are also used.
The parts I use are almost always unused for electronics, since used electronic components have almost always had the leads cut short, and twisted or soldered in some way that makes them impossible to use for jewellery.
However many are old, surplus or unwanted stock, so there is a recycling element involved.
When available, I also use the brass beads or "ball ends" from guitar strings, these are retrieved from used guitar strings when I change strings on my own instruments. Although I use a lot of strings myself its not enough for all the jewellery i would like to make from these, so guitarists, if you would like to collect your used ball ends and send them to me for recycling please contact me, I may be willing to pay the postage... |
